Gliding competitions

A race of gliding, gliding, or speed race, usually is divided into a number of trials (minimum three).

Each test consists of a "theme", which is a path marked by "pillars" or turning points. The theme will be awarded to drivers by the race during the briefing mattuttino, which are also described, with the greatest possible accuracy, the weather of the day.

The length of the topic assigned will depend on the forecast day by day more or less favorable conditions of the atmosphere, in turn derived from parameters such as temperature, pressure, humidity and sunshine.

The race will also meteorologist complex phenomena such as more or less unstable air mass, obtained by plotting the data from a survey in the early morning air.

These factors make it possible to predict with reasonable accuracy the evolution of the mass of air in the theater of the race.

This situation will be carefully evaluated by the pilot, trying to get from your machine the best compromise between speed and distance.

The issue of race is presented as a closed polygon whose vertices, called "pillars", should be bypassed in the assigned sequence.

Evidence that the pilot has completed the race course will be provided by an electronic device called "logger" connected to the onboard GPS.

Win the test day, getting the highest score, the pilot will have traveled as fast as the assigned theme.

Finally win the game, the contestant who has achieved the highest overall score, the sum of the partial scores obtained in different days.

Gliding

The thermal flight

In the middle of the day the ground warms up of course. The warm air, being lighter, tends to rise: it is thus to create an updraft (thermal), able to do the glider climbs at high altitude.

The technique of soaring, which is used by the pilot, is to make the most of warm rising air currents to ascend the spiral flying in all 'inside of the heat itself.
Gliding from one thermal to another, you can travel great distances.

The flight dynamic or slope

When a horizontal air flow (wind) meets orographic obstacle on its path, tends to climb up to jump over the obstacle and then return trajectory. The glider then positioned along the slope by running the "eight" at the bottom to keep the air mass and quadagnare share.

The flight on air

When the wind speed becomes high values ​​(100-150kmh intercepts and other mountain systems (Alps) can reach very well over 10,000 meters.

The world record of altitude is 14938 feet with American Robert Harris in California.

          i had never owned an r/c helicopter before, and this one looked good to start with for the price. by the time the battery died on the first charge i could already fly it fairly well. it took quite a few good crashes first tho, stayed together like a champ. on the 2nd charge i turned my 5 yr old daughter loose with it, she had a blast just making it take off and land again. since she didnt really do any extensive flying, the battery lasted an amazingly long time for her. 2 of our 3 dogs barked at it and chased it, the 3rd was just petrified of it. she must have played with it for over 3 hrs the first nite. now she cant wait till i get home from work so she can fly it more. guess im gonna hafta buy one for me now. great toy at a great price.

What powered flight

The flight can 'be many things can' be a hobby, the direct road to a prestigious profession, a way to quickly move from one place to 'another, but for almost all practitioners and' a passion.

Passion is the thing that drives a Jet Commander, which has just completed a long flight line to board a small aerobatic and ringed "figures" for fun, or that drives us, not professionals, to find time in 'lunch break for a stroll along the slopes of the Alps or the hills of Monferrato.

The fact that some of the flight will also become a convenient transport system, for others the daily work, does not mean that every take-off, even after so many years, you feel a sense of freedom.

Freedom ': it'! the flight from 'this feeling forever, but enjoy it safely requires study, training. In fact, the school you can 'teach the technique and rules, but your behavior will allow the correct and prudent' in the years to get something really satisfying.

The races of powered flight

At the beginning of the goal of 900 races to see who was unable to rise from the ground, and is 'past progressive: in the '20s and '30s to speed races' pure and height above the ground, in the 60s and 70 races in mixed speed 'and accuracy of navigation in the days to the current races regularity'.

In the '60s classic "Castle Tour Piedmont" committed riders (with the instruments of the time: compass, airspeed indicator, stopwatch and map), to follow the route assigned, against the winds and recognize roads and hills in order to arrive on the goals at the right time.

Today, electronic instruments has removed any mystery about the knowledge of its position, and the race was' transformed and is played on three other parameters:
• speed 'and accuracy of route planning
• based on data provided within the first few minutes of
• departure.
• capacity 'to recognize terrain features
• comparing them to fly over some photographs.
• precision of the landing maneuver.

Certainly not 'more' time the hiss of air around the helmet and goggles to the "Red Baron", but it 'still a challenging and fun way to participate in a competition to more' good opens the door to travel, awards and grants for international competitions.

          The Syma S006 is very well built and is quite durable. Too big for indoor flying, but great fun outdoors in zero to light wind conditions. Its low forward speed really limits it's capability in wind. (This is common with all co-axial helicopters.) Would certainly buy another, but will probably transition to conventional (single rotor) helicopter next purchase.

I wrote an earlier review about this toy helicopter describing how I thought I overcharged it and upset the balance between the front and rear rotars.......purchased another one because I liked the first one so much and as I reread the directions I discovered there are buttons on the ends of the remote to adjust this.

I must have set the remote down on one of these buttons and accidently changed this setting but it was set origionally so it flew fine.

I adjusted the old helicopter and it flies fantastic again and I gave the new one to a friend.

These things fly fantastic and are very durable and I highly recomend. My 9 yearold twins fly it all the time.

One thing to watch out for is the remote is line of sight and if you get too far away or something gets in between you and helicopter the remote cuts off power and helicopter falls but its sturdy.

Also its a no wind toy......no celing fans on or no furnace blower going as these will buffett the helicopter.

This toy is cool looking and fairly small. The only issue I see with it, after flying it around a bit is that the trim button is only good for about 2 seconds and if you turn the helo left or right it has to be "trimmed up" again. I don't know if the rear rotor blade is too big for it, if it was dropped in shipment or what the deal is, but the helo looks just like the movie "Black Hawk Down" as it spins out of control quite a bit. Now if the name of this helo would have been "Black Hawk Down model" then I would expect the poor flight performance.

I bought a SYMA Cobra helo....it is was better and I use it a lot more than this Black Hawk. Maybe the bugs will work themselves out. I guess I can't complain about the Black Hawk as I spent $15 on it (or there about).

          What a learning experience! In May I ordered an S107 from (another reseller here) but it arrived "dead on arrival" (couldn't power the remote, also had visible build flaws - and many other Amazon reviewers said theirs were DOA, too). Amazon's buyer protection is great: I packed up the defect, printed return label, sent back, full refund. Yet, I knew others were enjoying their Syma copters and I saw fun web vids showing S107 in action - beautiful flights.
          Worth a retry! Jaded but smarter, I searched enthusiasts' blogs. One photo-packed blog claimed some counterfeit S107s were being sold but they recommended buying from Amazon reseller "Superstition Hobbies" who sells the genuine Syma products and replacement parts. I took the bait, ordered this paired set from that reseller (plus spare rotor blades which I know can eventually wear a bit).
          SUCCESS! Two gorgeous S107s, fly beautifully, have tremendous build quality, superb power, nicely maneuverable as they hover, turn, fly. The discounted price is very affordable, and it's great to have a pair so I can recharge one, while flying the other.
          Within weeks I purchased a third (as a gift) from Superstition Hobbies. Tested great! I know my pal will love it.
          Great purchase if you get the genuine item from the right reseller. I really believe the research and reseller choice, made the difference.

          This is my first RC helicopter. I started flying it low to the ground indoors on a smooth surface so it could slide a bit, and if it crashed it would not fall far. Start slow to get used to it. Buy extra batteries and maybe an extra charger, 8 to 10 minutes of flight goes by real quick. It is way cool, and can't wait to to fly it some more, after my (1) battery charges (I will be buying more batteries soon).
This is probably the lowest price you'll find this helicopter.

The Helicopter

The helicopters are a class of aircraft that fly "sucking" air from the bottom and pumping it with a thrust equal to its weight (in the case of hovering, that is, to stand still in air) or with greater thrust (for crawling towards the 'top: climbing).

The movement is generally provided by "direct" the flow of air in a different direction from the vertical. On this page of notes (which gave rise to a much longer article, but still do not know where to publish) we assume for simplicity helicopters "single-rotor" (like what you see in the picture at the bottom of this page).

Bernoulli's Law tells us about the behavior of fluids that given a reference surface (assuming the area "swept" from the rotor head), the sum of the static pressure and dynamic pressure remains the same - in our case, is "above "and" below "the helicopter.

This means that the air velocity in the rotor is greater than the one above the rotor (otherwise we would have an upward pressure, that is, the rotor would push down the helicopter instead of "keep it up" against the force of gravity). For the same reason, the air pressure beneath the blades is also increased (we're still hiring - for simplicity - the column of air that has entered the helicopter at that time).

The air sucked from the rotor will expand back to normal pressure at a higher speed - with simple calculations we obtain a factor of 2, ie the rate of output ("under" the rotor) is twice that of entry.

Because the helicopter can hover must be in balance the thrust force of gravity applied to the mass (commonly - and not entirely accurately - we would say "weight") of the helicopter.

So, given the weight and size of the helicopter rotor, one can calculate the minimum power is needed to balance the force of gravity (ie to keep the helicopter in flight).

We see that if the surface of the rotor increases, the required power decreases (but since the value is under the square root, the decrease is not linear).

What are the Radio Control planes?

Radio controlled, almost always refers to air toy designed to be controlled remotely using a sort of steering and guidance system. They are popular toys among children and adults, and are available in a wide variety of styles.

Originally, the radio control has been conceived as a method, during World War II missiles to navigate in dangerous places without putting the operator in danger. The technology never took off, however, and has been virtually abandoned since the war.

Most radio controlled devices use an analog control system, where a small pulse is sent from a handheld unit and received by the model. The model then interprets the width of the wrist to indicate in which direction, and to what extent, you have to move. Serve in a model airplane and turn, causing the plane to change direction. Recently, more expensive systems have started using digital controllers and receivers, which are much more reliable, and integrated fail-safe in case of signal loss.

Controller for the radio control devices are available in different levels of complexity. Some controls may be simple, allowing forward, left, right, up and down directions. Others may include a throttle valve and, for faster to change.

Radio control planes are built from different materials, including various types of wood (balsa is the most common), simple plastic and carbon fibers. Which can cost as little as $ 90, or up to $ 5000. Radio Control Plans may vary in power for two simple two-stroke engines up to large four-stroke engines. The size can vary from little more than a foot (30 centimeters), a full wingspan of ten to twelve feet (3-4 meters). The radio media plan will last 10-20 minutes in the air, flying at speeds ranging from 30 mph (48km / h) 200 mph (322 kph).

There are a number of hobbyists clubs for fans of radio air traffic control, are found in almost every nation on earth. The level of commitment ranges from fans than any other aspect of radio control airplanes, with some buying pre-made planes and meet from time to time to fly them, and the other floors of the building from scratch and enter contests and other competitions.
